Phil Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” reality show fame took the national stage in Alabama on behalf of Judge Roy Moore for Senate and reminded that in America, it’s God, not government, who’s in charge.

That’s good news that refreshes. Because in Washington, D.C., with the collapse of Obamacare repeal on the horizon, and the fight for border security ongoing, it’s Democrats who are seeming in charge of late — not Republicans, who actually hold the majorities in Congress. And American voters are rightly confused.

At least, as Robertson reminded, we can look skyward for true leadership — as Founding Fathers often did, by the way.

Robertson was speaking in favor of Moore over Luther Strange for Senate, citing the former’s strong Christian roots and battle-tested faith. Moore, while chief justice of Alabama’s Supreme Court, refused to cave to demands to remove a granite Ten Commandments statue from the rotunda of the judicial building and was subsequently ousted from office.

Moore, years later, was again suspended from the same office when he instructed probate judges in the state to defy federal orders and refuse to issue certificates for same-sex partners to marry.

And he did it, both times, for his biblical beliefs.

“Roy Moore’s a godly man,” Robertson said, Breitbart reported, “or I wouldn’t be here.”

Robertson, who also preaches from the pulpit at his Louisiana church on occasion, then spoke of the connection between America’s politics and faith.

“When you look on our streets in America, you see people running around with signs on top of their head, all puffed up … won’t even acknowledge the flag of the United States of America — the national anthem! You say what in the world’s going on? They’re senseless. Faithless. … When a nation slaughters its offspring, one million a year, they always collapse.”

The Alabama primary runoff is Tuesday, with the winner set to face off against Democrat Doug Jones in December.
