DETROIT (AP) - A bike sharing organization will offer free rides to celebrate its first summer of operation in Detroit.
Executive Director Lisa Nuszkowski says MoGo Detroit hopes Sunday’s promotion encourages “more people to get out and get active.”
The free ride share also celebrates Sunday’s Open Streets Detroit, a street festival that features arts and cultural programs, folk dancing, street hockey and other activities.
The bike sharing system is waiving its $8 daily pass fee and says charges only will apply for individual rides exceeding 30 minutes. Riders can avoid charges by docking a MoGo bike at any one of the system’s 43 stations in 10 Detroit neighborhoods before going over the time limit. They then can take another bike out.
MoGo is an affiliate of the Downtown Detroit Partnership.
