HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Erik Zokouri ran 25 yards for a touchdown on the first play of overtime and Monmouth denied Hampton on four plays to preserve a 30-23 win in the first meeting between the schools Saturday.

Hampton’s Delmon Williams passed 34 yards to Ronald Bell for a touchdown 23 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Williams found Bell with a 51-yard scoring pass in the first quarter and Williams ran 28 yards for a score to make it 13-0 after one quarter.

Monmouth (3-1) tied the game at 16-16 with a third-quarter safety and Zokouri punched in from a yard out to give the Hawks a 23-16 advantage.

Zokouri finished with 77 yards on nine carries. Kenji Bahar completed 19 of 35 pass attempts for 111 yards and a touchdown.

Williams completed 17 of 33 attempts for 201 yards and two touchdowns for Hampton (2-2), but he also threw two interceptions.
