The New York Knicks have gone the entire summer and they still have not traded star Carmelo Anthony.
Speaking to reporters Friday, Knicks general manager Scott Perry said he’s keeping “an open mind,” according to ESPN.
“We’ve just been in constant contact with he and his representatives and I won’t get into (the) weeds of the details of how far or how close we were to any type of deal,” Perry said. “At the end of the day, what we set out and what we said (in July was), if there was something there that made sense both for him and the Knicks organization, then we would strongly consider it. Obviously, we sit here today and that did not happen as of yet.”
Anthony has a no-trade clause and has insisted on being traded to the Houston Rockets to play with Chris Paul and James Harden. But the teams haven’t been able to agree to a deal, with multiple reports saying they’re struggling to find someone to take on Rockets forward Ryan Anderson’s contract.
Anthony is expected to report to the Knicks training camp next week.
