THORNBURY, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania homeowners’ association group has filed a motion to stop work on a pipeline project over environmental concerns.
The Delaware County Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/2xhnLtR ) the Andover homeowners’ association filed a motion in Commonwealth Court seeking to end work on the Sunoco Logistics L.P. Mariner East 2 project. The 350-mile pipeline will bring natural gas liquids to the Marcus Hook Industrial Complex.
Soil beneath Andover contains leftover lead and arsenic pesticide agents that were used by an old apple orchard.
Residents of the Thornbury development say Sunoco isn’t doing enough to contain the harmful agents from spreading through dust and runoff. Homeowners’ association president Eric Friedman says Sunoco has “blighted and destroyed the private, preserved open space.”
A company spokesman says Sunoco is in compliance with permit requirements.
