Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton received an awkward gift this week during her appearance on CBS’ “The Late Show” — unused “victory” jokes.

A Showtime special during the 2016 election with comedian Stephen Colbert did not go according to plan when Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump took key battleground states to secure victory. Mr. Colbert met with Mrs. Clinton Tuesday night to promote her new book “What Happened,” but he also took time to present her with his “Election Vault Unused Clinton Victory Jokes.”

“I found out, right sitting on this chair, with that man over there telling me what states were coming in, that our next president was going to be Donald J. Trump,” Mr. Colbert said. “And I was not happy about this. The audience that night, was, honest to God, on the edge of tears in this room. It was like we were all at a funeral in this room.”

The CBS host then showed Mrs. Clinton a picture of naked men with “We’re with her” written across their backsides.

“Oh my God,” she said.

“I wish we could have told those jokes. […] I wish you were our president,” the comedian added.
