PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A handyman at a Rhode Island apartment building has been charged with failing to a report a death after a woman’s body was found last week in a maintenance closet.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2ydbmGB ) the man pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge on Monday.

Police say the man had access to the closet where the body of 61-year-old Judith O’Brien, of North Providence, was found Friday.

An autopsy is being performed to determine her cause of death. She had been reported missing Aug. 15.

O’Brien’s boyfriend told investigators that she had gone to meet with the handyman for “medication” on Aug. 3, the last day she was seen alive.

The handyman is currently being held for violating his probation from a prior drug charge.
