GRAND ISLE, Vt. (AP) - Gov. Phil Scott is praising energy efficiency projects at Vermont’s five fish hatcheries that are expected to generate $120,000 a year in energy savings.
The Republican governor said Thursday that the staff-led projects will also substantially reduce the hatcheries’ greenhouse gas emissions.
Among the projects are upgrades to lighting, water pump modifications, heating system upgrades and the installation of waste water heat exchanges to capture waste heat. The projects were initiated by Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife employees, with help from a Department of Buildings and General Services’ fund.
Scott says the projects are a “tremendous example of staff leadership and cross-agency coordination to improve efficiency in state government.”
