ROME, N.Y. (AP) - The suspect in a New York homicide has been arrested in Las Vegas after a two-week manhunt.

The Utica Observer-Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/2iSwNK3 ) that 35-year-old Robert Coffin was arrested Friday as he got off a bus in Las Vegas.

Police in the upstate New York city of Rome say Coffin shot and killed 25-year-old Thomas Shepherd in a parking lot on Aug. 19.

Rome Police Detective Jeffrey Lanigan says authorities followed hundreds of tips to track Coffin to Las Vegas.

He says Coffin was “quite shocked” at being collared “way out there.”

Coffin is being held in Las Vegas on a warrant for second-degree murder. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer who could speak for him.

Details regarding Coffin’s extradition to New York have not been finalized.
