BARRE, Vt. (AP) - Police contract negotiations are resuming this week in Barre, Vermont, as both sides return to the table with new health insurance information.
The Times Argus reports (https://bit.ly/2wt9r45 ) negotiations will resume Wednesday afternoon. Negotiators representing Barre and police union members have reviewed health insurance premiums for the coming year.
Wages and health insurance are at the center of contract negotiations. City manager Steve Mackenzie says he expects the meeting to be pivotal in contract talks.
Mackenzie has projected a 7.5 percent premium increase. Other estimates have indicated premiums could rise by 13 percent.
Barre had previously agreed to contribute to 90 percent of the premiums for the platinum plan under the last contract.
Mackenzie says he is “cautiously optimistic” about reaching an agreement Wednesday.
