SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah’s public colleges and universities are preparing to ask lawmakers for an extra $83 million next year to pay for employees, enrollment growth and other programs and more than $150 million for campus buildings.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2xLdwAT ) the Utah System of Higher Education put together a wish list Friday for the upcoming legislative session starting in January.

The $83 million increase includes $30 million for worker pay, $16 million for enrollment and $8 million for financial aid.

Higher education officials are also seeking $40 million for an engineering building at Weber State University, a $50 million science building at Dixie State University and nearly $65 million for the Utah Valley University business school.
