LEXINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina say a man was killed after he was hit by a freight train as he walked on the tracks.

The Lexington Police Department told local media outlets that 32-year-old Julian Michael Martin was walking on the tracks around 1:45 a.m. Monday when the Norfolk Southern train hit him.

No one aboard the train was hurt. Police said no charges would be filed.

According to police, the train was traveling north from Linwood to Roanoke, Virginia. The train had approximately 60 freight cars.
