Apple’s anticipated upgrade for Apple Pay won’t release in time for the Tuesday debut of iOS 11.
Apple Pay Cash, a peer-to-peer payment feature allowing users to send money to each other — think PayPal or Venmo — is coming sometime “this fall,” Apple said on its website Monday in a blog post about the iOS 11 update.
According to Apple Insider, “It is not clear is this is a delay, or if Apple didn’t plan on rolling out the feature with the launch of iOS 11.”
While various peer-to-peer payment apps are already available in the Apple app store, Apple Pay Cash would work within Apple’s proprietary Messages app that comes packaged on every iPhone and iPad.
“The service will integrate with Siri’s new machine learning capabilities, offering suggested amounts to send based on the context of conversations had within messages,” according to Apple Insider.
