Actor Alec Baldwin may want to rethink his open animosity of President Donald Trump.

If it wasn’t for Trump, Baldwin wouldn’t have won his most recent Emmy.

Sunday, Baldwin took home the award for best supporting actor in a comedy series — the comedy series being, of course, “Saturday Night Live.”

But what Hollywood award ceremony would be complete without bashing Trump?

On that, Baldwin didn’t disappoint.

“I guess I should say, at long last, Mr. President, here is your Emmy,” he said, while accepting the award.

The reference was to Trump’s previous public statements about the rigging of the Emmys against “The Apprentice.” Trump brought up that perception most recently during a campaign debate against Hillary Clinton.

Baldwin’s Trump-bashing went further.

“I want to thank my wife,” he said, Slate reported. “My wife and I had three children in three years and we didn’t have a child last year during the ’SNL’ season. I wonder if there’s a correlation there. All you men out there, you put that orange wig on, it’s birth control. Trust me.”

Funny.

But here’s a thought for Baldwin to consider, too: Why bite the hand that feeds your own fame?

Baldwin truly ought to have thanked Trump — genuinely — for the material that fueled his recent career success. It would’ve been the gracious move to make.
