DUTY, La. (AP) - A Louisiana ferry is closed for repairs , and the state Department of Transportation and Development says that means a 45-mile detour for drivers.

The department says the ferry is a tug and barge with a landing on Louisiana 559 in Catahoula Parish at Enterprise. The ferry landing is about 65 miles north-northeast of Alexandria and just across the Ouachita River from the Boeuf Wildlife Management Area.

The ferry closed Sunday morning.

According to the department’s website, it generally runs weekdays from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and weekends from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

It can carry six cars, four tandem-axle trucks, or one bus or unloaded tractor-trailer.

It’s one of five ferries in Louisiana.
