PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island jury has acquitted a 32-year-old Providence man in a September 2015 fatal shooting in the city.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2wvl6L1 ) that Derrick Watson was found not guilty of murder Fridahy in the death of 38-year old Kyle Machado.

Machado, who was a member of the Narragansett Indian tribe, died during a street fight over a game of craps. The gun used in the shooting was found a week later wrapped in a T-shirt on Smith Hill.

Watson’s lawyer, Mark Smith, argued that his client didn’t intend to kill Machado. He says his client meant to fire a warning shot after wrestling away the gun, which he said Machado had pulled on Watson.
