AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Nationally known marijuana consultants are among those advising Maine on how to set up its new adult-use cannabis market.

The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/2xkJOl7 ) reports that the state had requested advice about implementing the voter-approved law legalizing recreational marijuana.

The state is not seeking paid consultants currently but could in the future.

Respondents include the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention and groups for and against marijuana legalization.

Maine voters last year approved legalizing the possession, sale and use of recreational marijuana by persons over 21 years of age. Possession of up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana became legal this year but lawmakers pushed back legalization of marijuana sales.

A legislative committee plans to hold a Sept. 26 hearing on an omnibus bill to regulate cultivation and retail sales.
