CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The largest container ship to visit the Port of Charleston is expected to pass through Charleston Harbor, after nearly two weeks of delays.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that the Theodore Roosevelt will come into the harbor Thursday morning and dock at Wando Welch Terminal in Mount Pleasant by 10:30 a.m.
The 1,202-feet-long (366 -meters) - roughly the length of four football fields - vessel was supposed to visit Charleston on Sept. 1, but was delayed three times by weather and a scheduling conflict.
The ship owned by the CMA CGM shipping line is capable of hauling up to 14,885 cargo boxes and is part of the Ocean Alliance’s South Atlantic Express Service, a group of 11 ships.
