PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Verizon officials say they will be ending their service for some customers in Maine.

In an email sent Tuesday, company spokesman David Weissmann tells the Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/2xyAxa2 ) customers were notified of their service ending Oct. 17.

Weissmann did not say how many customers will be affected. He described them as a “small group” living outside the service area and using a significant amount of data.

The company has not responded to follow-up questions.
