DETROIT (AP) - Nearly two dozen community development organizations working to revitalize Detroit neighborhoods will share $3 million in grants from the Kresge Foundation over the next three years.
The Troy-based foundation says the grants range from $30,000 to $60,000 annually and are intended to support the day-to-day operations of the 21 groups.
Kresge Detroit Program managing director Wendy Lewis Jackson says “neighborhoods have been the backbone of the city through its hardest time, and these organizations have been the backbone of their neighborhoods.”
The Detroit Program collaborates with civic groups and businesses to promote and expand long-term equitable opportunity in the city.
Organizations receiving grants include Cody Rouge Community Action, Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance, Detroit Hispanic Development Corp. and Mack Avenue Community Church Development.
Kresge is a $3.5 billion private foundation.
