ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - In a story Oct. 6 about a congressman’s chief of staff being named a deputy director of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, The Associated Press erroneously identified the congressman’s name in a headline. The congressman is Rep. Chris Stewart, not Rep. Chris Smith.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Utah Rep. Stewart’s chief of staff named BLM deputy director

A Utah congressman’s chief of staff has been named a deputy director at the U.S. Bureau of Land Management

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - A Utah congressman’s chief of staff has been named a deputy director at the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

Brian Steed has served as Republican Rep. Chris Stewart’s chief of staff since 2013 and previously worked as his campaign manager.

Steed, who has a law degree, also taught economics and political science at Utah State University and served as deputy attorney general in Iron County from 2003 to 2005.

The (St. George) Spectrum (https://tinyurl.com/ycrt4ck7) reported Friday he’ll serve as the BLM’s deputy director in charge of programs and policy.
