OPINION:
California, with a stroke of Gov. Jerry Brown’s pen, just became an entire sanctuary state for illegals.
The state should secede. And if it won’t? The remaining 49 should push it into the ocean.
Well, not really. But the remaining 49, under the helm of the feds, should stop sending any type of tax dollar California’s way.
Perhaps a wall’s in order.
Perhaps we’re building in the wrong spot.
If California’s going to open doors to illegals, then the rest of America shouldn’t have to pay. The rest of America shouldn’t have to deal with the types of threats these illegals soaking up the California sun could bring to the law-abiding citizenry in other states.
Senate Bill 54, the “California Values Act,” will take effect in January. It prevents local law enforcement officials from asking immigrants about their status, and bans police from complying with detainers requested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
Brown said the bill will also serve as a model for the state attorney general to issue guidance to locals on matters dealing with illegals. In other words: Schools, beware. Your doors will stay open, no matter how many illegals flock to your community.
Brown made clear the new law doesn’t keep deportations from continuing for those who’ve committed serious crimes and are in prison.
What a comfort.
Remember: The illegal that cold-bloodedly killed Kate Steinle in 2015 on a San Francisco pier wasn’t in jail. In the minds of leftists like Brown, though, Steinle’s death is meaningless, a small cog in an amnesty-at-all-costs wheel.
California ought to just secede. There’s a saying that goes a nation without borders is not a nation. Well, a state that opens doors to illegals is not a state. It’s a foreign territory that’s creating a dangerous situation for the United States. Once again: Perhaps the border wall with Mexico ought to be extended, right up the eastern side of California.
