MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The national conservative group Americans for Prosperity is launching a $1.4 million television ad buy in Wisconsin targeting Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin.

The group announced the ad campaign on Thursday. It is also running spots against Sen. Claire McCaskill in Missouri and Joe Donnelly in Indiana. All three are up for re-election next year.

The total ad buy in all three states is $4.5 million.

The ads are slated to run for three weeks on cable and local networks. The ads urge Baldwin and the other Democratic incumbents to support the Republican-sponsored tax overhaul effort unveiled last week in Congress.

The ad accuses Baldwin of “standing in the way of a simple, fair tax system.”

Baldwin spokeswoman Gillian Drummond says Baldwin opposes any tax plan that increases taxes for the middle class and benefits the wealthy.
