PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The Latest on the Rhode Island governor’s remarks about media outlets in the state (all times local):

6 p.m.

Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo has apologized for slamming Rhode Island’s biggest media outlets over its coverage of her administration.

Raimondo said in a statement Wednesday she regrets her characterization of media outlets in the state.

Raimondo said Tuesday at Brown University that she’s relying more on social media and “micro local media.” WPRO News first reported her comments.

WJAR-TV frequently interviews Raimondo. Raimondo said it used to be a “nice back-and-forth” but now it’s billed as going one-on-one, like a fight motif.

“One-on-one” is commonly used to describe exclusive interviews.

Raimondo called The Providence Journal a “shadow of its former self,” with fewer reporters. She said broadcast news has become almost like talk radio.

The governor said Wednesday she values the importance of the media’s mission.
