CHICAGO (AP) - Aggravated battery, perjury and official misconduct charges have been filed against a former Metra commuter rail police officer in connection with a 2015 arrest at a Chicago train station.
The charges against 50-year-old David Robertson is the result of an arrest he made at Millennium Station for trespassing. Robertson claimed the suspect started a physical confrontation during the arrest.
A video contradicts Robertson’s account of the incident. It shows him using excessive force during the arrest.
Metra officials say Robertson and a second officer involved in the arrest were stripped of their police powers and suspended without pay. They were fired by Metra in December 2016.
Robertson was released on his own recognizance after appearing in bond court Monday afternoon. It wasn’t immediately known if he has legal representation.
