TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - Police have identified a woman whose body has been found in the back of a minivan submerged in a northern Michigan river.

Traverse City Police Chief Jeff O’Brien said the body of 22-year-old Morgan Victoria Fawn Elmer of Traverse City was discovered in the van Tuesday morning.

O’Brien told the Traverse City Record-Eagle a fisherman alerted authorities to the van submerged in about 15 of water near a boat launch along the Boardman River.

He says Elmer’s death is being treated as suspicious and the police are asking anyone with information about her activities in the last few days to contact detectives.

It wasn’t clear how long the van had been in the river.
