KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Mohave County supervisors have decided to keep rural libraries in northwestern Arizona open as officials prepare to eliminate positions.
The Kingman Daily Miner reports (https://bit.ly/2yWE4wA ) the supervisors decided in a 4-1 vote Monday to get rid of two vacant library positions and one part-time position in technical services to save the county about $90,000 in annual salaries.
Supervisor Buster Johnson who voted against the cuts says it is not what he expected would happen after supervisors moved to increase the library district tax in August.
Library Director Kathy Pennell recommended eliminating the positions and says there will be a minimum negative impact without them.
