CHICAGO (AP) - Officials in Chicago say international shipping company DHL is putting $10 million into revamping a facility at O’Hare International Airport.
Shipping company DHL chose Chicago for the 54,000-square-foot expansion. DHL is calling it a global gateway facility and officials say it will allow on-site U.S. Customs operations for fasting processing.
The facility is located on the northeast cargo campus at O’Hare, which is undergoing expansions in the coming years.
O’Hare is already home to other DHL facilities, including office space.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and DHL Express U.S. CEO Greg Hewitt announced the news recently.
Emanuel says the expansion will bring new economic activity and an estimated 75 jobs will be created.
