ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Budget officials in Arlington County expect a funding gap of $10 million to $13 million for the upcoming fiscal year.
At a presentation Tuesday at the County Board meeting, County Manager mark Schwartz said projections show 3 percent growth in revenues for fiscal year 2019, but expenses are projected to increase by 4 percent.
The projected gap does not account for the Arlington Public Schools revenue and budget.
The gap represents between 1 and 2 percent of the county budget, again excluding schools.
Arlington County residents currently pay the lowest property tax rate in northern Virginia, at a rate of $1.006 per $100 in assessed value.
The county is in the midst of a series of budget roundtable discussions to gather suggestions from citizens.
