CHICAGO (AP) - The online grocery delivery business Peapod announced that it’s moving its headquarters to downtown Chicago from the suburb of Skokie.
Peapod acting president Walt Lentz says the move will let the company “become a bigger part of the Chicago business community and invest in the city’s diverse pool of talent.”
The company’s new downtown location is expected to be finished in spring 2018. That’s when the headquarters will move. Peapod officials tell the Chicago Tribune that all 180 of its Skokie employees will relocate to the Chicago site. They’ll be merged with about 40 Peapod employees who already work downtown. The company said there are no layoffs associated with the move.
Peapod is one of several companies to relocate to Chicago in recent years including McDonald’s, ADM and Conagra.
