As he winds down a music career that’s spanned seven decades, country musician Kenny Rogers is receiving his very own star on the Music City Walk of Fame Tuesday.

Mr. Rogers, who has 24 number-one hits to his name, will be formally presented his star by The Oak Ridge Boys in a Nashville ceremony, according to the official website for the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp.

Mr. Rogers will kick off his The Gamblers Last Deal farewell tour Wednesday evening at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena with a special concert celebration featuring various special musical guests, including Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton.

Ms. Parton and Mr. Rogers, of course, are well known for their numerous hit duets, particularly 1983’s “Islands in the Stream,” while it was Mr. Richie who penned the 1980 crossover chart-topper “Lady.”

“I could not be more honored to be a part of Kenny’s Farewell Concert Celebration,” Mr. Richie said, according to a news release on Mr. Rogers’ eponymous website. “It’s going to be a special night.”

Mr. Rogers is the 80th inductee into Nashville’s 11-year-old Music City Walk of Fame. Ms. Parton already has a star on the Walk, as do various legends living and dead, from Garth Brooks and Charlie Daniels to Johnny Cash and Jimi Hendrix.
