SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Latest on wildfires burning in Utah (all times local):

1:00 p.m.

Officials say they’ve lifted evacuation orders for deer hunters and cabin owners in an area where two small fires are burning near each other south of Salt Lake City.

U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Kathy Jo Pollock said Monday afternoon that fire crews downsized the estimated size of both fires burning near Strawberry Reservoir, about 80 miles from Salt Lake City.

Both fires had burned about 200 acres. One was about 20 percent contained Monday afternoon and the other fire several miles away was about 40 percent contained.

Pollock says officials still don’t know the cause of the fires, which broke out Sunday.

Authorities say two Utah wildfires are still burning south of Salt Lake City, but a favorable weather forecast should help firefighters get the upper hand.

U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Kathy Jo Pollock said Monday that evacuation orders remain in place for deer hunters and cabin owners near Strawberry Reservoir, about 80 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.

One fire has burned about 600 acres, and the other has torched 200 acres. Pollock says each fire has forced about 25 people to evacuate.

She says both are zero percent contained, but the outlook is good because winds are predicted to die down and the fires are burning light fuels like grass and brush.

Investigators are probing what caused the fires and if they are related.
