DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A Florida woman has been sentenced to 15 years in an Iowa prison for forging and cashing stolen checks in the Davenport area.

The Quad-City Times reports that 38-year-old Elizabeth Shamel was sentenced Thursday in Scott County District Court in Davenport. She pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery and one of identity theft after prosecutors dropped several other counts.

Shamel is on probation for larceny in Broward County, Florida.

Shamel’s accomplice, 27-year-old Marcus Felder, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy and sentenced to 170 days in jail. Authorities say that Felder also has convictions and pending cases in Broward County, Florida.
