SAN DIEGO (AP) - Two people killed in a Southern California plane crash were on a flight with a company that offers stunt flying and simulated air combat.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Garrett Engler and Peter Gillcrist died Saturday when their plane went down in the mountains about 30 miles northeast of San Diego. The crash sparked a 20-acre wildfire.
Gillcrist was a pilot with Sky Combat Ace, which identified the victims. It didn’t indicate who was piloting the plane.
Spokeswoman Megan Fazio says it appears no distress calls were made before the crash.
The company, which operates from San Diego, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas, describes itself as “the world’s most extreme aviation attraction.”
A passenger and pilot also died in a 2016 crash during air combat maneuvers near Las Vegas.
