OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The Sarpy County Sheriff’s office say a man wanted in the armed home invasion robbery and rape of a woman just southwest of Omaha has been arrested.

The 52-year-old man is suspected in the late Wednesday night assault. Officials have said he may also be linked to other assaults in the Omaha area. The man had not been formally charged by Friday evening, and The Associated Press generally doesn’t name suspects who have not been charged.

The woman in Wednesday night’s attack told investigators she was asleep in her home near 156th Street and Giles Road when a masked man entered her house and raped her at gunpoint before leaving with money.

Police launched a manhunt after tips from the public and seized the suspect’s empty vehicle Friday morning. In it, investigators say they found a portable police scanner and items linked to assaults in Omaha.
