AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine’s unemployment rate remains low and was largely unchanged from August to September.
The Maine Department of Labor says the preliminary seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.7 percent in September was down 0.1 percentage points from August. It’s also slightly down from 4 percent a year ago.
Maine’s unemployment rate was lower than the national rate of 4.2 percent and the New England rate of 3.9 percent. The national rate was down 0.2 percentage points from August.
Maine labor officials say the current 24-month stretch in which unemployment has been 4 percent or less is the second-longest such period in more than four decades.
