Recently Peter Doocy of Fox News asked Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican, about his failure to support the president’s agenda — the agenda the voters sent both President Trump and Mr. McCain to Washington to fulfill. Mr. McCain called the question stupid, seemingly implying that Mr. Doocy was stupid. Actually, neither the question nor Mr. Doocy is stupid. A lot of Americans would have liked to hear an honest answer from the senator rather than a nasty retort.

Forty years ago I had a great deal of respect for John McCain. No longer. He ran for office as a conservative and has run for re-election as a conservative, but his actions are more in line with the progressive liberals who are trying so hard to tear down the America our forefathers built for us. Mr. McCain makes promises when running for re-election, then returns to Washington and turns his back on those promises.

He has been feeding at the taxpayer trough all of his adult life, eating better than many of the taxpayers who support him. While his service as a naval officer was certainly honorable, his time in elective office is not worthy of the same praise.
