Former White House intern Monica Lewinsky’s participation in the #MeToo Twitter campaign to highlight sexual assault has raised the ire of Juanita Broaddrick, who still accuses former President Bill Clinton of raping her in 1978.
Women across social media used the hashtag #MeToo this week to spotlight sexual harassment after movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s fall from grace over decades of charges. Ms. Lewinsky published “#MeToo” Oct. 15, but she was chastised by Ms. Broaddrick on Thursday for her response when Mr. Clinton denied their affair in 1998.
“Better late than never Monica Lewinsky’s ME TOO,” Ms. Broaddrick tweeted. “I have always felt sad for you, but where were you when we needed you? Your silence was deafening in the 90s when Kathleen, Paula and I needed your voice.”

Ms. Lewinsky’s affair with the president became public knowledge after he lied during special prosecutor Kenneth Starr’s work on a sexual-harassment suit against him by Paula Jones.

Mr. Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, but the Senate acquitted him in February 1999.
“I completely understand,” Ms. Broaddrick said when told that Ms. Lewinsky was too overwhelmed by the media in her early 20s to respond. “[I’m] just disappointed Hollywood was her catalyst to admitting she was sexually abused.”
Ms. Jones reached an out-of-court settlement with Mr. Clinton in 1998, although Kathleen Willey claims he sexually assaulted her November 1993 while she was a White House volunteer.
Ms. Broaddrick, 74, maintains that Mr. Clinton raped her when she was 35 years old and he served as Arkansas attorney general.
