MIAMI (AP) - Miami native Robert F. Lasky has been named the new special agent in charge of the FBI’s operations in South Florida.
An FBI news release Wednesday said Lasky will replace George Piro, who has been named assistant director of international operations at FBI headquarters in Washington.
Lasky grew up in Miami and attended Christopher Columbus High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from the University of Miami.
Lasky began his FBI career in 1998 in San Francisco and most recently ran FBI operations in Mobile, Alabama. He has worked in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Illinois, Utah and at FBI headquarters.
Lasky is expected to start in Miami in late October. The office covers southeast Florida from Fort Pierce to Key West.
