ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - A company that makes orthopedic devices will set up a manufacturing plant in South Carolina that will create 1,000 jobs over the next several years.

Gov. Henry McMaster announced the plans Monday by Anthrex Inc., of Naples, Florida, to spend $69 million to build a plant in Anderson County.

The company specializes in devices used in arthroscopic surgery.

The company is expected to begin hiring in the next year or so.

Anderson County Council has approved an incentive package for the company. The fee-in-lieu of taxes package requires the company to spend at least $35 million and hire at least 550 people in the next three years.
