OPINION:
Rishard Matthews, a wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans, weighed in on the never-ending NFL kneeling brouhaha and said, via Twitter: If I have to stand, I’ll quit.
Umm … bye?
See ya later, don’t let the door hit you, sayonara and so long.
Nobody — but nobody — in America has time to sympathize with a poor, downtrodden multimillionaire, convinced by his own pampered imaginings he’s actually part of the downtrodden class.
As Breitbart noted, here’s the tweet, which contained the question, “@_RMatthews If NFL makes new rule on anthem .. will you stay in locker room and face the fine/penalty?” And Matthews’ response: “No I will be done playing football.”
And here is a tweet that sort of summarizes what is more than likely the response of the masses.
“So @_Matthews of @titans,” the Twitter poster wrote, “says he’ll quit NFL if he has to stand for national anthem. Bye, dude.”
But there are more, equally unsympathetic.
“Buh-bye,” another wrote. “Don’t let the door of wealth & privilege hit ya in the a$ on the way out.”
The NFL ought to take note. Americans, by and large, want the anthem-kneelers to quit.
Nobody tunes into football to watch a political protest.
