MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont Gov. Phil Scott says he wants the state to do more about cyber security.

At the Statehouse on Tuesday, Scott signed an executive order creating the Governor’s Cyber Security Advisory Team.

Scott, a Republican, said that since January there have been more than 3.3 million attacks on the state’s computers, none of which were successful. He says as cyber threats become increasingly complex and frequent, the state must have greater coordination, information sharing, preparation and emergency response capabilities.

The team is charged with developing a plan for protecting the state’s information and systems, evaluating statewide cybersecurity readiness, developing best practices for policies and procedures.

Scott was joined by leaders from the Agency of Digital Services, the Department of Public Safety and the Vermont State Police.
