PARIS (AP) - The French soccer federation says a tribute to the 130 people killed in attacks two years ago in Paris, and to war veterans, will be paid during the friendly match against Wales.
The French team hosts Wales at the Stade de France on Friday in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis as part of its preparation for next year’s World Cup. On Nov. 13, 2015, suicide bombers blew themselves up outside the stadium during France’s friendly against Germany, killing one bystander.
The French federation says FIFA has accepted that all French players will wear an armband with a blue cornflower, “the symbol of the duty of memory and solidarity with the veterans and victims of the terrorist attacks of Nov. 13, 2015, in Paris and Saint-Denis.”
