STOWE, Vt. (AP) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency is in Vermont to assess damage from a devastating wind storm that tore through the region last week.
Federal teams were tallying up damage done on Wednesday in Stowe, one of the areas hit hard by wind. Stowe Public Works Director Harry Shepard says around three quarters of the town went without power after the storm.
FEMA staffers are visiting 10 out of 14 state counties, conducting damage assessments. To qualify for federal reimbursement, at least $1 million in damages to public infrastructure must be found by FEMA.
Vermont Emergency Management officials say they have determined about $4 million in damages so far.
Assessment crews will be back out on Thursday.
