President Trump’s 6-year-old granddaughter has become a child star in China for singing in Mandarin, Chinese President Xi Jinping told Mr. Trump during their meeting Wednesday in Beijing.
Mr. Trump and first lady Melania Trump sat down for tea with Mr. Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan at the Hall of Embodied Treasures in the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, on Wednesday. During their meeting, Mr. Trump played a video of Arabella Kushner, the daughter of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, singing and reciting poems in Mandarin, according to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency.
Mr. Xi said Arabella’s performance deserved an “A plus,” Xinhua reported. He also said she is considered a “child star” in his country and hopes she will visit soon.
In February, Ivanka posted a video of Arabella, then 5, performing a song in Chinese to commemorate the Lunar New Year. The video went viral in China, the New York Post reported.

China’s Foreign Ministry praised the child at its regular news conference on Thursday, The Washington Post reported.
“Arabella as a small messenger of Sino-American friendship is deeply loved by the Chinese people,” spokeswoman Hua Chunying said. “I believe it will also help to narrow the feelings and distance between the peoples of China and the United States.”
