WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - Authorities say a police officer who was shot Tuesday night in Utah is expected to survive.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that authorities would not say whether the injured officer was on duty at the time of the shooting or why he was at the West Valley City apartment complex where he was shot.

Deputy Police Chief Matt Elson says the officer’s injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Police did not release the officer’s name but said he has been on the force for three years.

Elson said officers are investigating two minors with gunshot wounds who arrived at a hospital in a vehicle similar to one seen leaving the apartment complex shortly after the officer was shot.

Police didn’t release any other information, saying only that the youths are expected to survive.

It’s unclear whether the three shooting victims are related.
