TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The Latest on Democrat Phil Murphy’s victory in the New Jersey governor’s race (all times local):
5 p.m.
Democrat Phil Murphy spent his first day as New Jersey’s governor-elect at a train station thanking voters and saying he’s planning for the transition from GOP Gov. Chris Christie’s administration.
Murphy stopped at a commuter station in Hoboken Wednesday to talk with voters. He says he’s “literally 100 percent” concentrating on transitioning.
Christie says he congratulated Murphy and is focused on conducting a “cooperative” transition. He told his Cabinet weeks ago to begin preparing for the transition, regardless of who won.
Murphy takes office Jan. 16 after defeating Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno on Tuesday.

Preliminary returns show that less than 4 in 10 registered voters turned out to cast ballots in Tuesday’s election won by New Jersey Democrat Phil Murphy.
Results tallied by The Associated Press show that about 36 percent of registered voters cast ballots in the contest to succeed term-limited Republican Gov. Chris Christie.
About 1.2 million people voted for Murphy, giving him a margin of 13 points over Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno. About 883,000 people voted for her.
About 43,000 people voted for five different third-party or independent candidates.
The results are preliminary and the turnout number is expected to rise somewhat as results from a handful of remaining precincts are reported.

New Jersey’s next governor is thanking voters and preparing for the transition.
A hoarse Phil Murphy greeted commuters at a rail station in Hoboken Wednesday, one day after the Democrat beat Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno (gwah-DAH’-noh) 55 percent to 43 percent.
Murphy says he’ll kick off his transition in the evening. But first he plans to make a lot of phone calls and attend his son’s soccer game.
Murphy says he had a gracious phone call from Republican Gov. Chris Christie and they will meet in the next few days to discuss the change of government.
Murphy takes office on Jan. 16.

New Jersey’s next governor wants to thank voters in person.
Democrat Phil Murphy on Wednesday will greet voters at the Hoboken PATH station.
With 99 percent of the districts reporting, Murphy beat Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno (gwah-DAH’-noh) 55 percent to 43 percent. More than 2 million votes were cast in the race.
The governor-elect is a former Goldman Sachs executive and Obama administration ambassador to Germany. During his victory speech at Convention Hall in Asbury Park on Tuesday, Murphy talked about how much he plans to push back against the Trump administration.
Republican Gov. Chris Christie Christie said he promised Murphy his administration’s full support leading to the inauguration on Jan. 16.
