WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) - A shooting, pursuit and several exchanges of gunfire between a suspect and police officers in Pennsylvania ended with two men dead and a police officer wounded, authorities said.

Officers were called to a Williamsport home just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after a reported shooting and found Shawn Graham, 33, dead from gunshot wounds to the abdomen, police said.

As officers responded to that scene, an officer spotted a vehicle reported fleeing the scene, so he pursued and stopped the vehicle. The suspect got out of the car and opened fire on the officer, hitting him the right arm and striking his patrol vehicle multiple times, police said.

Other officers pursued the vehicle south on Route 220 and then turned around and pulled into a Sheetz gas station/convenience store in Linden, where he got out of the car and began to shoot at officers, police said. Multiple officers returned fire, and “state police confirmed that after firing multiple rounds at officers, the suspect did take his own life,” Williamsport police said in a statement.

The suspect was later identified as 27-year-old Paul Heath. Police said they were seeking a second suspect in the homicide.

The officer was taken to UPMC Williamsport for treatment, and police said he “should fully recover from his wounds.”
