MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama man has pleaded guilty to a 2013 double murder in Etowah County and received consecutive life sentences for the crimes.

Attorney General Steve Marshall, in a news release Wednesday, said Cedric Orlando Young entered the plea to two counts of murder in the deaths of Jabari Player and Billy Baker.

Marshall says Young shot and killed Player and Baker on the West Meighan Bridge in Gadsden on Aug. 7, 2013. Evidence shows that Young was traveling in a vehicle and fired into another vehicle occupied by the victims.

Marshall’s office took over the case after the local district attorney’s office recused itself because of a conflict. Marshall says he’s pleased they were able to “deliver a measure of justice for the victims’ families.”
