SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Yankton man accused of robbing a downtown bank in the city has been sentenced to four years in federal prison.
Authorities say 27-year-old David Giese donned a Halloween mask on July 26, 2016, walked into the Wells Fargo branch and demanded money. He left behind a package that turned out to be harmless. No one was hurt.
Giese pleaded guilty in August to bank robbery and was sentenced Monday.
U.S. Attorney Randolph Seiler says Giese will be on supervised release for four years following his prison term. He also was ordered to pay $6,900 in restitution.
